MotoGP Repsol Honda Team riders Marc Marquez and Dani
Pedrosa were back in action in a one-day private test in Jerez,
Spain over the weekend.
The Honda team were initially meant to hold two days of testing
at Jerez but rain forced them to cancel Day 1.
There was a big scare for reigning MotoGP world champion
Marquez and the team when he crashed at turn seven in the
afternoon, dislocating his shoulder. After seeing medical
personnel he returned to complete most of the scheduled testing
The data gathered from the testing will be sent back to Japan
for analysis by the Honda team ahead of the final official
winter testing from 10-12 March at the Losail Circuit in
Marquez confirmed on the Repsol Honda site that his
shoulder injury was nothing too serious.
“Today was a productive day, as we were able to do many laps
and to work on our bike well,” said Marquez.
“We did most of the work we had planned, which is good.
“I crashed in the afternoon and dislocated my shoulder, but
luckily it was nothing serious. Now I’ll have some rest back at
home and get ready for the next test, in Qatar.”
Pedrosa said that despite only being able to test for one day
they were satisfied with what they had accomplished.
“After missing yesterday, luckily today we were able to fully
exploit the time available, even though the track conditions in
the morning were not ideal and we had to concentrate all our
testing schedule in one day,” the Spaniard began.
“We worked really hard but we’re satisfied with what we’ve done
here. Now we must keep focused and try and continue in the same
way in Qatar in two weeks’ time.”
